Happy Veterans’ Day!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all the parents who were involved in decorating the McKeon Center for the Sock Hop.  You did an outstanding job!  THANK YOU to all the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade parents and students who baked cakes for the Cake Walk at the Sock Hop.  The Sock Hop was a GRAND success, and everyone who attended had a great time.

This coming week in literature, we will continue to read Inside the Walls of Troy by Clarence McLaren.  It is heart-warming to see how much the Seventh Graders are enjoying this book.

Fifty percent of the Seventh Grades scored A+’s/A on the Literary Terms Test last Wednesday.  Well done Seventh Graders!  Thank you for studying.  Fifty percent failed the test because they didn’t study for it.  Those who failed the test, will retake it on Tuesday, November 19.  Please encourage your child to study for the retake.

This week in writing, the Seventh Graders will continue to learn about writing a screenplay.  Last week, we discussed transportation, props, sound/music, lighting, and wardrobe.  This coming week, we will focus on the script format of a screenplay.  I have copies of the movie scripts Good Will Hunting and The Da Vinci Code for the Seventh Graders’ perusal.

This week in history, we will prepare for the History Test on Wednesday.  Please encourage your child to study his/her history notes for the test.  Thank you.  In addition to this, we will read about the Renaissance.

The homework for this coming week is as follows:

  • Study for the History Test (Chapter 16) on Wednesday.
  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 10 in Wordly Wise.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 10 of Wordly Wise.
  • Study for the retake of the Literary Terms Test on Tuesday, November 19.
  • Work on the plot of your “Screenplay.”

The words that enlighten the soul are more precious than jewels.

THANK YOU to all our heroic Veterans!  Your service is greatly appreciated.  I wish all our families a very Happy Veterans’ Day!  Have a grand week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan
