Happy Halloween!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

Thankfully, the ITBS Testing is finished, and the Eighth Graders have survived in tact.  Well done, Eighth Graders!

Congratulations to my Eighth Graders on the OUTSTANDING JOB that you did in helping at the Harvest Hoe Down on Friday.  You were FABULOUS, and I received many compliments about your wonderful behavior from parents, teachers, assistant teachers, and Mrs. King.  I was extremely proud of you, as I observed your gentle and loving behavior, in your interactions with the Primary and Transition students of O.M.M.S.  You are beautiful on the inside and the outside, and I have photographs to prove it!  Well done!  I am so proud of you, my SWEET MUFFINS!

I am happy to report that the next book for reading, Night by Elie Wiesel, is in at Barnes and Noble, and I will pick it up tomorrow (Sunday).  We will commence reading it on Tuesday, October 29.  This coming week, we will also return to the study of Literary Terms, in addition to our classroom workbooks.

I need to change the date for the next History Test, as J Serra High School is having an open house on Tuesday, October 29, and some of my Eighth Graders want to attend it.  Therefore, the History Test of Chapter 2 of America will be given on Wednesday, October 30, instead of Tuesday, October 29.  Please encourage your child to study for this test.  Many thanks!  This coming week in history, we will commence the reading of Chapter 3, which focuses on “Creating the Constitution.”

This week in religion, we will finish our study of The Ten Commandments.

Reminders: 1. The Parent /Teacher conferences are on Monday, October 28, in Room 218.  I look forward to seeing you then.

2. No school on Monday for our beloved students.

3. We will have a celebration of Halloween on Thursday, October 31, from 10:00a.m. to 10:30a.m.  All students are welcome to bring a treat for this celebration.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Study for the History Test of Chapter 2 of America on Wednesday.
  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 8 in Wordly Wise on Friday.
  • Complete all the exercises and the CROSSWORD in Lesson 8 of Wordly Wise.
  • Rewrites of Episode IV of Pride and Prejudice are due on Friday.
  • The summary of Episode VI of Pride and Prejudice is due on Friday.
  • Write up the history definitions of Chapter 3 into the history notebooks.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a grand week ahead!
