Happy St. Francis’ Day!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all the parents who donated to our St. Francis’ Day basket.  I truly appreciate your generosity.  A very special THANK YOU to Michelle Acosta and Jud Fidellow who put the basket together for the auction tomorrow.  It is beautiful!  THANK YOU also to Jud Fidellow and Karen McKinsey who bring their precious horse to our Horse Drop Picnic every year.

This week, we will continue our discussions about the characters Beowulf, and the monsters, Grendel and She.  The next writing assignment is to write an outline of Beowulf.  In addition to this, we will commence our poetry unit with the epic poem “The Lady of Shalott” by Alfred Lord Tennyson.  We will also work in the grammar, punctuation, and comprehension workbooks during class time.

I am happy to report that most of the Seventh Graders scored extremely high on their History Test on Wednesday.  I am so proud of them!  Well done, Seventh Graders! This week, we will prepare for the next History Test, as we have finished reading the next chapter, which focused on medieval conflicts and crusades.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Spelling/vocabulary of Lesson 5 in Wordly Wise for Thursday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 5 of Wordly Wise.
  • Write up a formal outline of Beowulf.

Children are remarkable for their intelligence and ardor, for their curiosity, their intolerance of shams, and the clarity and ruthlessness of their vision. ~ Aldous Huxley

I’m looking forward to seeing you at the St. Francis’ Day celebration and the Horse Drop Picnic.

Have a great weekend and a grand week ahead!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
