Student Council Campaign Week!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU for the lovely birthday cards, delicious brownies, and Starbucks cards that you gave to me for my birthday on Wednesday.  I was both surprised and delighted.  It was a great birthday.  Thank you!

The Sixth Graders did a great job on their Wordly Wise homework and spelling/vocabulary test.  I am so proud of them!  This past week, they started work in their punctuation workbooks.  Their first writing assignment “Write a Fable” is due on Wednesday, September 25.  They have detailed guidelines for this assignment.  It must be typed and  double-spaced.

This week, we will finish our reading of Chapter 1 in the history book Ancient Civilizations.  Your children are in the process of learning how to take notes in preparation for their first history test.   We will continue with this exercise this week.  The first history test will take place on Thursday, October 3.  They will be tested on definitions and questions from the three sections of Chapter 1.  We will prepare for the test in class, but your child will also need to study at home.  Please encourage your child to study each night.  Many thanks.

We will have “Drama Class” again on Friday afternoon.  We will watch last year’s performance of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens , and your children will pick three parts that they would like to play.  I will try to give them one of their choices, if possible.

The following is the homework for this week:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 3 in Wordly Wise on Wednesday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 3 of Wordly Wise.
  • Writing assignment: Write a Fable is due on Wednesday.
  • Study the history definitions for the history test on Thursday, October 3.

What a glorious gift is the imagination, and what satisfaction it affords.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
