Student Council Campaign Week!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU for the lovely birthday cards, beautiful flowers, delicious chocolate cake, brownies, and cookies, Starbucks card, Scottish soap, pink notebook, and luscious lip gloss, that you gave to me for my birthday.  I felt much loved and very spoiled.  You made my day!  Thank you!

I am happy to report that all the Eighth Graders scored extremely high on their spelling/vocabulary test this past week.  Most of them did a great job on their Wordly Wise homework, too.  Some students need to give more time to Wordly Wise.  This past week, I added a punctuation workbook to the classroom workbooks.  In addition to this, we watched Episode 2 of Pride and Prejudice.  This coming week, we will continue to read Animal Farm by George Orwell and work in the daily workbooks.

This coming week in history, we will finish Section 4 of Chapter 1 of the history book America.  This section focuses on the thirteen colonies.   In addition to this, we will read Chapter 2, which deals with the Great Awakening, independence, and a new nation.  I have assigned the first history test for Monday, September 30.  Please encourage your child to study for it.

During our religious classes we discussed the concept of “Forgiveness.”  This coming week, we will examine The Ten Commandments.

Reminders:  The Student Council speeches will take place in the Serra Center on Monday afternoon, at 1:45p.m.  You are all very welcome to join us.  The voting for Student Council will take place on Friday, September 27.

The theme for the St. Francis Day basket is “A Day Out.”  Thank you for your donations.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 3 in Wordly Wise.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 3 of Wordly Wise.
  • Rewrite of Pride and Prejudice …Episode I.
  • Summary of Episode 2 of Pride and Prejudice.
  • Study for the History Test on September 30.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead!
