A Great Start!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents,

The Seventh Graders have settled back nicely into their Middle School routines. I am happy to report that they scored high on their spelling/vocabulary test on Thursday.  I am so proud of them! Keep up the great work!

This past week, we continued to read Beowulf by Robert Nye.  In addition to this, the Seventh Graders started work in  new comprehension and grammar workbooks in class.   In their journals, they are writing about their interests regarding literature, music, movies, sports, etc.  This coming week, we will continue to prepare for their first writing assignment, Write a Myth or Legend, which will be due on Thursday, September 26.

We started our social studies program with “A New Civilization in Europe,” which focuses on Europe during the Middle Ages, the spread of Christianity, and the development of European Feudalism.  We will finish this chapter this coming week.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 2 in Wordly Wise on Thursday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 2 of Wordly Wise for Thursday.
  • Write up the history definitions and questions in the history notebooks, and study the definitions in preparation for the History Test.

Books are the bees which carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind.

~ James Russell Lowell (American poet and editor)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and have a GRAND week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan
