Welcome Back to School 7th Graders!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

Thank you to all the parents who attended our Orientation Night last Tuesday evening.  It was lovely to see and chat with you all again.  Your children all appear to be very happy and have settled in nicely to their school routine.  This past week has been too short and has moved too fast.  However, we are on the path of our Seventh Grade curriculum.  We began our reading of Beowulf by Robert Nye, and my students are definitely enjoying it.

In addition to this, they worked on Lesson 1 of Wordly Wise, under my supervision.  This coming week, the Seventh Graders will commence work in their grammar workbooks and journals.  In addition to this, I will read aloud many myths and legends in preparation for their first writing assignment, Write a Myth or a Legend.   Social Studies will start on Tuesday, September 10, as they have a school assembly during my class time with them on Monday.  I look forward to a very positive and productive new school year with your children.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Thank you.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Study for the spelling and vocabulary test of Lesson 1 in Wordly Wise on Thursday.
  • Read several chapters of a book of choice.  Please remember that reading is food for the brain.

The mind is a fire to be kindled, not a vessel to be filled.  ~ Plutarch

Have a GRAND week ahead!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
