Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

A big THANK YOU to all our parents who attended our Maria Montessori/Shadow Day on Friday.  It was lovely to see such great support for your child.  I know that your child was happy and proud to have you there.

This week in literature, we will continue to read The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.  In addition to this, I will read aloud “The Devoted Friend” by Oscar Wilde, as an enhancement to his great literature.  There is a Literary Terms Test on Wednesday, April 24, so please encourage your child to study for it.  Many thanks!  We will finish the auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Monday, and we will begin rehearsing on Tuesday.

I am happy to report that my Seventh Graders scored exceptionally high on their History Test last Tuesday.  I am so very proud of them!  Well done, Seventh Graders!  Yahoo!  This week in history, we will watch a video of the history of China, to enhance our recent study.  In addition to this, we will read Chapter 11, which focuses on the history of Japan.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Two pages of cursive per night.
  • Spelling/vocabulary review test of Lessons 7 and 8 in Wordly Wise.
  • Complete the next story in the Greek and Roman Mythology workbook for Thursday.
  • Many students still need to turn in their Heroic Poems.
  • Study your lines in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
  • Write up the history notes for Chapter 10.
  • Study the history notes for the History Test on May 1.

Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep within him that light which is called intelligence.  ~ Maria Montessori

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead!
