Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

A heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS to all the Middle School students, for the wonderful inventions they shared and explained in great detail, last Thursday night at the Science Invention/Art Fair. I was delighted to see such creativity and genius on display. Everyone did a FABULOUS job! Well done! Big kudos to Ms. Lida, too. The slide show was superb! The children’s artwork was lovely, well done, Children and Mr. Sharp!

There will be a field trip to the Vista Courts on Thursday, March 21. The purpose of this trip is to get a wee glimpse of how the court system works. We will need drivers, so if you are available to drive, please notify your homeroom teacher. The permission slips will be sent home with your child on Monday. Please sign and return them to your homeroom teacher, as soon as possible. Many thanks! This field trip promises to be an exciting day for your children. THANK YOU to Carmela Escobar and Laura Visco for arranging it.

The Seventh Graders scored extremely high on the Literary Terms Test last Tuesday. Outstanding! I am thrilled to see them being so responsible. I am very proud of them! Keep up the great work, Seventh Graders!

I heard from Barnes and Noble during the week, and I have been assured that I should have our new books this coming week. In the meantime, we will read a biography of Oscar Wilde on the Smart Board, in preparation for the reading of his play, The Importance of Being Earnest. We will also continue to work in the classroom workbooks. Your child is expected to complete two pages of cursive each night from Monday to Friday. He/she does not have to practice cursive during the weekends.

This week in history, we will prepare for the next History Test of Chapter 8, which examines the Inca Empire. We have already finished reading Chapter 9, which focuses on the Aztec Civilization. The next History Test will take place on Monday, March 18, so please encourage your child to study for this test. Thank you!

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Review the assigned words for spelling/vocabulary test from Lessons 1 and 2 in Wordly Wise.
  • Some students need to turn in the rewrites of their Screenplays.
  • Study for the History Test of Chapter 8, on Monday, March 18.
  • Work on the “Magazine Project,” which is due on Thursday, March 28.

May your world be bright with cheer, may your cares all disappear,

May contentment come your way, and may laughter fill your day.

~ An Irish Blessing

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead.
