Report Cards This Week!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents,

Your child’s report card was mailed out on Friday, so you can expect to receive it this week.  If you have any questions or concerns about it, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Our Middle School dance was a GRAND success last Friday evening.  All who attended had a blast!  THANK YOU to all the Student Council members who decorated the McKeon Center for the dance, and to Gianna Acosta who designed the flyer.  THANK YOU to Alexa Small, our D.J., who played great music that our students wholeheartedly enjoyed.  THANK YOU to Paul Friedman and Michelle McGowan who ran the Photo Booth, and convinced everyone to don unusual hats, galactic sunglasses etc.  THANK YOU to Michelle Acosta and Jud Fidellow who ran the Refreshment Booth.  THANK YOU to our chaperones: Nicki Nugent, Carmela Osorio, Donna Snaer -Williams, and Laura Visco.  THANK YOU to our alumni Ellen Allen and Diana Visco who took in funds at the entrance.  THANK YOU to all the parents who donated snacks, candy, chips, cookies, and drinks.  THANK YOU to all the students and parents who helped with the cleanup.  As you can see, it takes a village to put on a Middle School dance.

This week in literature, we will continue to learn about the Helen and The Trojan War.  In addition to this, we will return to poetry with Alfred Lord Tennyson’s “The Charge of the Light Brigade.”  I am happy to report that the majority of the Seventh Graders scored A/A+ on their Literary Terms Test last Wednesday.  I am very proud of them!  Well done!  Some students are ready for their new comprehension workbooks.

In history this week, we will finish reading Chapter 7, which focuses on the Maya civilization.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 16 in Wordly Wise on Thursday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 16 of Wordly Wise.
  • Write fifteen sentences using the vocabulary words.
  • Complete the CROSSWORD in Lesson 16 of Wordly Wise.
  • Write up the history notes for Chapter 7 (notes will be distributed on Monday).

A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge.  ~ Thomas Carlyle.

Have a GRAND week ahead!
