Dear Seventh Grade Parents,

We have completed our first week of the new year, and the Seventh Graders have adjusted back to their work nicely.  All of them reported that they had enjoyed their Christmas break.

This week, the Seventh Graders will continue to read Inside the Walls of Troy by Clarence McLaren.  In addition to this, they will continue to work in their classroom workbooks.  Your child will also start work in a cursive book, as many of the Seventh Graders need to improve their cursive skills.  I have added fifteen sentences to the weekly homework, as I noticed that some students were not using the vocabulary words correctly.  I hope this exercise will help to clarify the use of the weekly vocabulary.

There will be a History Test of Chapter 5 on Wednesday, so please encourage your child to study for it.  I distributed the notes for the test last Tuesday.  We will go forward with the reading of Chapter 6 in the history book Medieval and Early Modern Times, which focuses on West African Civilization.

Reminder: The Middle School Dance will take place on Friday, January 25, in the McKeon Center, from 6:30p.m. to 9:30p.m.  If you are available to chaperone, please contact me.  Many thanks!

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Study for the History Test of Chapter 5 on Wednesday.
  • Spelling and vocabulary test of Lesson 14 in Wordly Wise on Thursday.
  • Write fifteen complete sentences, one for each vocabulary word.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 14 of Wordly Wise.

Knowledge is the one commodity of which we can never have a surplus.  It is not so much what is poured into the student, but what is planted, that really counts.  ~ E.C. McKenzie

Have a GRAND week ahead!

Sincerely,

Miss Susan
