Merry Christmas!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents,

This past week, the Eighth Graders continued to read The Odyssey and explore the Aegean Sea with Odysseus.   In addition to this, many of them finished their “Life’s Skills” workbooks and punctuation workbooks, and they also worked in their grammar workbooks.  This week, we will continue to read The Odyssey.  There is a Literary Terms Test on Tuesday, December 18, so please encourage your child to study for it.  Many thanks!

Almost every Eighth Grader scored an A+ on their History Test last Tuesday.  I am so very proud of them.  Yahoo!  We started Chapter 5 of the history book The American Journey, and we will finish it this week.  There will be a History Test in mid-January, 2013.

This past week in religion, the Eighth Graders read about the Ecumenical Councils, Saint Ambrose, Monasteries in the Christian world,  and The Church Brings Good News to Pagan Tribes.

The following is the homework for this coming week.

  • Finish the Career Project for Thursday, December 20.

NO HOMEWORK DURING THE CHRISTMAS VACATION!  RELAX!  ENJOY!  HAVE FUN!

Reminders:

  • The making of gingerbread houses will take place on Wednesday morning with Mary Rudick.
  • Please send candy to the office.
  • Our classroom party is on Wednesday morning.  Each child has signed up to bring one item, please.
  • Food for our adopted family needs to be in by Thursday morning, please.
  • Please send a gift for a member of our adopted family. The deadline is Thursday morning.
  • The Eighth Graders will have a Secret Santa gift exchange on Thursday morning before Mass.  I have asked them to purchase the gifts themselves, if they are to truly give.
  • There is Mass on Thursday morning at 11:00a.m.  Mass uniforms, please.
  • Dismissal is at 12:45p.m. on Thursday.

Thank you for your very generous hearts!  We are so blessed to have such amazing parents at O.M.M.S.

A very special “THANK YOU” to my roomparents: Marge Ontiveros and Laura Visco.  You’re brilliant!

I wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I kook forward to returning to your very lovable children in the new year.

Gratitude is a memory of the heart. ~ J.J.Massieu

Love,

Miss Susan
